2 Korea-Japan battles, Japan ‘complete victory’…Korean fighter cries in Wonju safe room

In the second of two Korean-Japanese fighter matchups on the Road FC tournament stage, South Korea suffered a stunning defeat.

Park Hae-jin (31) lost a three-round unanimous decision to Devana Shutaro (38-Japan) in the quarterfinals of the Gupne Road FC 064 lightweight tournament at Wonju General Gymnasium in Gangwon Province on Thursday afternoon.

In the next bantamweight quarterfinal tournament, Korea’s Problem Hoon (39) lost a unanimous decision to Akira Haraguchi (28-Japan).

In the first round, the Taekwondo fighter used his fancy kicks to take on Haraguchi. However, Haraguchi caught a right kick and the fight went to the ground. Haraguchi, a former wrestler, tied him up on the ground.

In the second round, Mun caught another kick. Haraguchi immediately went for a rear naked choke. It worked, but Mun held on for dear life. They stood briefly, but Haraguchi regained the ground game and dominated the round.

Final round. A kick catch prevented Mulhun from stepping forward. Haraguchi tried to clinch as Munghoon hesitated. The ground and pound resumed. In the end, Problem Hoon suffered his second Korean-Japanese loss of the tournament with a third round unanimous decision.
