An hour-and-ten-minute rain break changed the game. The LG Twins have won three straight games to consolidate their lead atop the standings.
LG scored three runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to come from behind and win the first game of a doubleheader against SSG Landers 8-3 after a rain delay in Jamsil on Sunday.
Riding a three-game winning streak, LG has 73 wins, 2 draws and 47 losses with a winning percentage of 6.8 percent, making it the only team with a 6.8 percent winning percentage. They also maintained their six-game lead over second-place KT Wiz, who won the first game of their doubleheader against the Hanwha Eagles earlier in the day.먹튀검증
SSG, on the other hand, was forced to pull ace Kim Kwang-hyun, who threw just 79 pitches due to the rain, and the bullpen was unable to hold off the LG bats, eventually falling to their fourth straight loss. Fellow top-five contenders Doosan Bears beat the KIA Tigers to move Doosan into fourth place and KIA into fifth, while SSG dropped to sixth place, tied with KIA.

The mood of the two teams ahead of the doubleheader was completely different.
In fact, the mood of LG’s squad was unknown. The players were barely on the field during training. At 11:30 a.m., the batting cages, infield, and outfield were empty. The pitchers would occasionally come out to play catch, but there were no players or coaching staff. The team even set a 12:30 p.m. start time so that players who had played the night before would be well-rested for the doubleheader.
In the first game of the doubleheader, LG put together its best lineup of Hong Chang-ki (right fielder), Shin Min-jae (second baseman), Kim Hyun-soo (designated hitter), Austin (first baseman), Oh Ji-hwan (shortstop), Moon Bo-kyung (third baseman), Park Dong-won (catcher), Moon Sung-joo (left fielder), and Park Hae-min (center fielder). Before the game, LG coach Yeom Kyung-yeop said, “We will play almost the same players in the second game. Only the catcher will be changed,” he said, adding, “We don’t play until Thursday this week, so the players have no physical problems. If we play a doubleheader today, we’ll be fine because we have another day off tomorrow.” In addition to the fatigue of playing an evening game in the rain the day before, the players were not asked to train after work because they had to play two games on the same day, so there was no need to exert themselves before the game.
SSG, on the other hand, arrived at Jamsil Stadium on time and prepared for the first game of the doubleheader by having most of their hitters, including senior Shin-soo Choo, take batting practice in the batting cage. SSG’s lineup for Game 1 consisted of Choo Shin-soo (designated hitter), Choi Ji-hoon (center fielder), Choi Jeong (third baseman), Eredia (left fielder), Park Sung-sung (shortstop), Han Yu-seom (right fielder), Choi Ju-han (first baseman), Kim Sung-hyun (second baseman), and Cho Hyung-woo (catcher).
The first game of the day pitted LG’s Lee Jung-yong against SSG’s Kim Kwang-hyun.
Lee has been LG’s domestic ace of late. Since August, he has pitched at least five innings in all five games, going 4-0 with a 1.55 ERA. The team has also won all five of his starts, making him a “win fairy”.
Lee had never pitched as a starter before, but when he made the transition, he became a new pitcher, reintroducing his forkball and learning a curveball from Lim Chan-kyu and incorporating it into his arsenal. He gradually raised his pitch count and went through trial and error, but in the second half of the season, he became a solid starter and is now an ace.
He appeared in two games against SSG, but both times he was in the bullpen. This is his first time as a starter.
In contrast to Lee, Kim Kwang-hyun has been unlucky since August. In eight games, he is 1-5 with a 3.80 ERA. He has five quality starts, but no luck.
In his last start, he gave up one run in six innings against the Incheon KT Wiz on Aug. 12, but his team couldn’t score a run and lost 0-3.
LG Electronics hasn’t fared much better, with a 1-1 record and a 6.48 ERA in three games. On April 27, he gave up three runs on six hits (one home run) in four innings against Jamsil, but did not record a win, and on July 21, he gave up four runs on seven hits in six innings against Jamsil, but picked up the win as his team won 6-4. On July 19, he gave up five runs on eight hits in 6⅔ innings in a loss to Incheon.

The first game of the DH between the LG Twins and SSG Landers of the 2023 KBO League was held at Jamsil Stadium on Sunday. In the second inning, LG’s Park Dong-won grounds to second base and Oh Ji-hwan takes advantage of the opponent’s error to score.
In the top of the first inning, SSG took the lead thanks to LG’s sloppy defense. First baseman Choo Shin-soo’s hard-hit line drive to first base was not properly caught by first baseman Austin Dean, and Austin’s hurried throw to first base was thrown backwards. Choi Ji-hoon followed with a line drive to second base and Choi Jeong to center field for the second out, but Heredia’s fly ball down the right field line in the fourth put runners on first and third. Right fielder Hong Chang-ki’s throw to the second baseman was misdirected and the third baseman came out and made the catch, allowing Heredia to run to second for the out.
With runners on second and third, No. 5 Park Sung-han hit a clean double to right field to make it 2-0. No. 6 Han Yoo-seom followed with a double to left to put runners on second and third, but Choi Joo-hwan flied out to left field.
LG also scored its first run on a ridiculous error. In the bottom of the second inning, Oh Ji-hwan drew a walk and advanced to second on a wild pitch when Park Dong-won batted two batters later. Park then hit a routine grounder to the third baseman. Choi Jung-jeong, the third baseman, caught it and threw it with room to spare, but it deflected sideways. First baseman Choi Joo-hwan made a close catch, but his foot came off the base and Park Dong-won was safe. Oh Ji-hwan, who had reached third base, ran home, and Choi threw home, but Oh Ji-hwan had already crossed the plate. It was a free run without a single hit.
In the top of the fourth inning, SSG had another chance to score. After a leadoff single by Han Yoo-seom, Kim Sung-hyun drew a walk to put runners on first and second. When Cho Hyung-woo hit a grounder to the shortstop in the ninth inning, Oh Ji-hwan made an unfortunate error dropping the ball while trying to make the catch.

The 2-2 tie didn’t last long, however. In the top of the fifth inning, SSG took a 3-2 lead after Choi led off with a double to left-center field, moved runners to first and third on Han Yoo-seom’s infield single, and scored on Choi Joo-hwan’s RBI single up the middle.
Lee allowed three runs (one earned) on six hits with three walks and one strikeout through five innings. His 95 pitches were a career-high. He threw 43 fastballs up to 145 kilometers, 29 forks, 16 sliders and seven curves.
In the top of the sixth inning, Yoo Young-chan came in and struck out Cho Hyung-woo, Choo Shin-soo and Choi Ji-hoon with seven pitches.
The game, which had been played in a steady rain, was eventually suspended in the bottom of the sixth inning when the rain intensified. With Shin Min-jae batting first, there was a brief discussion about the suspension, but the game continued and Shin led off with a single to right field. As Kim Hyun-soo batted with nobody out, the rain intensified and the game was eventually suspended and tarps were placed on the field. 3:47 p.m.. Kim Kwang-hyun has thrown 79 pitches.
