Cheonan announced on the 12th that it had hired striker Boo Minh Hieu (21) and defender Nguyen Can Anh (23) on loan. The heat of the soccer Korean Wave that was transmitted to Vietnam has become a hotter wind and is now blowing toward Korea.
An and Hieu are from Hoang Anh Gia Lai (HAGL). Starting from the HAGL youth team, he went through the age group national team and experienced the professional soccer stage. HAGL is well known for its efforts in nurturing promising players while establishing a systematic youth education system in cooperation with Arsenal early on. HAGL is a place where the national team’s main resources and national team players of all ages are lined up.
An and Hieu, recruited by Cheonan, are also promising players who are growing into the next-generation Vietnamese national team by polishing their basic skills. Ahn, who grew up through the national team by age, was recognized for his value when he was selected by coach Park Hang-seo and selected for the Vietnam U-22 national team in 2020. Hieu was selected for the U-23 national team at the age of 20 and raised expectations. He was the youngest player in HAGL history to debut in the first team, and he was evaluated as ‘the second Kong Phuong’ by skipping his national team.
He has a decent physique. Both players are 180 cm tall and have the ability to play multiple positions. Cheonan coach Park Nam-yeol confirmed the growth potential of the two players through tests and evaluated them as resources that could help the team in the K-League 2. Despite his language problems, his ability to quickly understand the manager’s tactical instructions and his solid basics in carrying out them have earned good reviews. Vietnamese duo An and Hieu, who actively wanted to go to Korea, are also said to be passionate about training, raising expectations for their K-League debut.
Meanwhile, Cheonan is set to play against Busan I-Park in the opening game of the 2023 Hana One Q K-League 2 held at Cheonan Sports Complex on the 1st of next month.
