The Los Angeles Dodgers’ search for left-handed pitching has hit an unexpected reef. Detroit’s Eduardo Rodriguez (30) has rejected a trade to the Los Angeles Dodgers.
“Detroit agreed to a trade with the 스포츠토토 Dodgers for Rodriguez, but the player’s objections scuttled the deal,” ESPN reported on Feb. 2. Rodriguez, who signed a five-year, $77 million contract with Detroit before the 2022 season, included a trade veto.
A trade veto is a unique right that allows a player to choose which team he plays for. Typically, players want to go to a postseason team or a championship team. The Los Angeles Dodgers are the favorites to win the division and the World Series. However, by declining the trade, Rodriguez is making it clear that he doesn’t want to play for the Dodgers. It’s unclear why Rodriguez chose not to join the Dodgers.
The Dodgers are in need of a left-handed pitcher. In 15 games this season, Rodriguez is 6-5 with a 2.95 ERA in 88.1 innings pitched. He’s exactly what the Dodgers need to make it to the top. However, Rodriguez’s refusal to accept the offer has forced the Dodgers to look elsewhere. i
