LA Angels infielder Anthony Rendon (33) is on the injured list again. In the past three years, he has been on the path of FA eating and running with the 9th injured list.
The Angels placed Rendon on the 10-day injured list on the 15th (Korea Standard Time). He was replaced by his foul ball in the left shin against the San Diego Padres on the 5th, but the pain did not subside, so he eventually went to the injured list.
According to The Athletic, Rendon said, 메이저놀이터 추천 “My condition is a little better, but I don’t get better as quickly as I thought. There is really no answer,” he said. As for whether he is engaged in baseball activities, he said, “I can’t answer that question. “It’s too much detail,” he replied with a somewhat sarcastically.
Rendon has already been on the injured list three times this year alone. On May 16, he broke away due to symptoms of left groin tension and on the 20th of last month due to a bruise on his left wrist. He has played only 43 of the Angels’ 92 games until the 15th. He missed 49 games.
It’s not just this year. Last year, he was on the injured list in May due to inflammation of his right wrist, but missed three months after undergoing surgery in June. He returned at the end of the season in October, but played only 47 games in total.
In 2021, he also finished with 58 appearances after being listed on the injured list four times due to left groin strain in April, left knee contusion in May, left hamstring strain in July and hip collision in August. In the last three years, he has played 148 games and missed 268 games. The travel rate is only 35.6 percent.
Rendon received special treatment in December 2019 when he signed a seven-year, $245 million FA contract with the Angels. Since his debut with the Washington Nationals in 2013, he has been batting .2994 with 136 home runs and 546 RBIs in 916 career games for seven years. Although it is not colorful, it boasted one All-Star and two Silver Slugger careers due to its consistency.
In particular, in 2019, he had a career-high season with a batting average of .319 with 174 hits, 34 home runs and 126 RBIs in 146 games. He became Washington’s first World Series champion and came to the FA market at the peak of his value. The LA Dodgers also showed great interest in Rendon, but chose the Angels, whose city (Anaheim) is relatively quiet and less interested, because “Hollywood life is unlikely to suit me and my family.”
As a result, it was fortunate for the Dodgers to miss Rendon. Except for 2020, when it was a COVID-19 shortened season, Rendon is doing little to contribute to the Angels. The biggest problem is that he can’t play more than half of the season, but his performance is not good. Over the past three years, he has a batting average of .235, 125 hits, 13 home runs, 80 RBIs, and OPS.701. This year, he has a career low with a batting average of .236, 2 home runs, and 22 RBIs in 43 games.
Despite Shohei Otani’s struggles, the Angels, who have recently lost six consecutive games, have lost 45-47 with a 50% winning rate. He is fourth in the American League West and eighth in the wild card, trailing third by six games. An arrow of criticism is also directed at Rendon, who has been sidelined due to repeated injuries at a time when autumn baseball is moving away. Criticism is mounting as it does not reveal its proper status to reporters.
