PGA Championship winner Koepka tied for 28th after first day of LIV’s seventh tournament

Brooks Koepka (USA), who became the first player to lift a major championship trophy while playing in the Saudi Arabian capital-backed LIV Golf League, finished in a tie for second place on the first day of back-to-back LIV events.

Koepka traded two birdies for two bogeys in the first round of the seventh event of the LIV Golf League’s 2023 season ($25 million purse) at Trump National Golf Club (par-72) in Sterling, Virginia, USA, on Sunday to finish tied for 28th with an even-par 72.

Koepka came into the event on the heels of his top finish at the PGA Championship at Oak Hill Country Club in Rochester, N.Y., on Aug. 22.

At the PGA Championship, Koepka won by two strokes over Viktor Hovland (NOR) and Scottie Schauffler (USA), earning his fifth major title and becoming the first LIV player to win a major. 스포츠토토

Koepka has two previous victories on the LIV, the seventh event of the 2022 season last October and the third event of the 2023 season this April.

Harold Varner III (USA), who carded an 8-under-par round that included two eagles, is the lone American at the top of the leaderboard.

Kevin Na (USA) is tied for third (4-under 68) with Cameron Smith (AUS), while Danny Lee (NZL) ended the first day in a tie for seventh (3-under 69) with Dustin Johnson and Patrick Reed (USA).
