A banner reading ‘Soccer Capital’ represented the pride of Suwon Samsung. Most of the 17,481 fans gathered at Big Bird supported Suwon Samsung. Even in the organized cheering match, Suwon Samsung was one step ahead. Suwon Samsung was excellent in all aspects, including stadium facilities and the size of supporters.

Coach Kim Byung-soo, who took the helm of Suwon Samsung for the first time this year, said of the successive Suwon derby defeats, “It is a natural phenomenon. There is no particular reason,” he explained. The Suwon derby defeat meant that it was not much different from other matches. However, the shock and sense of loss felt by Suwon Samsung fans, who lost their place in the Suwon national team, seems much greater than coach Kim Byung-soo.
