“He’s a threat…but he’s not scoring.”
Daegu FC head coach Choi Won-kwon expressed his disappointment with foreigner Vaselus, who has been unable to score a goal.
Daegu lost 0-1 away to Jeonbuk Hyundai in the 17th round of the Hana OneQ K League 2023 at Jeonju World Cup Stadium on July 7. The team conceded a goal in the 12th minute of the second half to Song Min-kyu, ending their five-match unbeaten streak.
Coach Choi said, “We came here to get three points, but it’s disappointing that we didn’t. After the result, I think I should have rotated, but I don’t regret my choice. Jeonbuk played a good game, they were solid. I think we defended well, but the game was decided by the decisions of the strikers, which is fine.”
Vassellus came on in the second half and threatened. However, they were unable to convert their shots into goals. “What I always tell (Vassellus) is that we need him to attack from the flanks and break down the defense,” Choi said. He’s playing with Sejingya and Edgar and they’re working together. He’s a threat, but he’s not scoring. We are looking for ways to keep Vaselus alive.” 안전놀이터
The next game is at home against Suwon FC on Oct. 10. “I think the players will become stronger through the defeat,” Choi said.
After that, there will be an A-Match break. “We need to focus on the players’ recovery,” Choi said. The connection between Sejingya, Edgar, and Vassellus needs to be strengthened. In the second half, when Vassellus came on, we looked threatening, but it didn’t lead to a goal. We need to work on that part of our offense. We need to add a little more detail in our attack.”
