Felix Hernandez (37), considered the best pitcher in the history of the Seattle Mariners of the American Major League (MLB), has been loved by home fans forever.

Seattle announced on the 12th (Korean time) that Hernandez has been selected as the 11th member of the club’s Hall of Fame.

Hernandez’s induction ceremony will be held as a pre-game against the Baltimore Orioles on August 13 at T-Mobile Park, home of Seattle.

Born in Venezuela, Hernandez made his debut for Seattle in 2005 at the age of 19 and played until 2019.

His career record is 169-136 with an earned run average of 3.42.

He was selected as an All-Star six times, received a Cy Young award in 2010, and was affectionately nicknamed ‘King Felix’ for a long time and played an active role as Seattle’s ace.

Hernandez, who made 211 starts at T-Mobile Park alone, the most ever, achieved a perfect game against Baltimore on August 16, 2012.

However, ‘King Felix’ ended up saying goodbye to Seattle after falling into a swamp of sluggishness with a 1-8 loss average of 6.40 in the 2019 season in his mid-thirties.

Founded in 1977, Seattle has only had 10 players in the Hall of Fame in its 45-year history.
