Tottenham, who have appointed Enze Postecoglou as their new manager, are starting to make moves.
Talks with attacking midfielder James Maddison (Leicester City) began last week. Leicester City finished 18th in the English Premier League (EPL) and were relegated to the Championship for the first time in nine years.
Maddison, who has just one year left on his contract, will leave Leicester this summer. Tottenham are currently engaged in a signing war with Newcastle United.
The transfer fee is expected to be in the region of £40 million. The England international has 10 goals and nine assists in the EPL this season.
There was also a surprise arrival. Manchester United’s Jadon Sancho. The UK’s Daily Star reported on Nov. 11 (KST) that “Tottenham are considering a blockbuster move. They are considering a £50 million (approx. $81 billion) bid for Sancho.
Sancho is considered an all-time great talent, having scored 50 goals in 137 appearances for Borussia Dortmund. He moved to United in the summer of 2021 for a fee of £73 million. 먹튀검증
However, he struggled to adapt. At the beginning of the 2021-2022 season, he was mocked with the nickname ‘007’. ‘007’ stood for ‘0 goals, 0 assists, 7 appearances’.
Sancho was left out of the roster for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar. Coach Erik ten Haag sent him to the Netherlands for the World Cup, where he was put on a personal training program by the coaches he worked with. He was given “special protection.
But he scored just six goals in 26 appearances in the EPL this season. Sancho was given a chance to play in the recent FA Cup final against Man City with Anthony sidelined by injury, but he failed to convert. United finished as runners-up, losing 1-0.
In his two seasons at United, Sancho scored just 12 goals in 79 appearances. Dortmund are hoping for a comeback from Sancho. But only on loan.
United, who want a full transfer, are asking for £60 million for Sancho. However, United are in need of cash, so a compromise could be reached.
It is unusual that Levy, who is known as a ‘cheapskate’, is planning to spend £90 million at the beginning of the summer transfer window.
